Senior: North Allegheny School District in McCandless, PA is known for its competitive nature and top-tier clubs and athletics. Overall, I love LM and I can't imagine being anywhere else!. Administration could be better, because they sometimes try to hide stuff up. We have a program called lunch and learn, which is one hour in the day students can use to eat lunch anywhere in school and do work or get help from teachers. Facilities are pretty good, and there are a lot of resources for college and more. The music department is especially great! Diversity could be a little better. There's a lot of amazing clubs and activities at the school, such as the theater program, LM Players (clubs could use more funding though). There are a lot of people here with a variety of interests, so you will be sure to find someone with similar interests. Junior: Lower Merion is a great high school, and I am certainly going to miss it when I graduate. The IB is definitely a challenge, but part of the community is that we all persevere together. My biggest complaint would be that admin definitely plays favorites, so you have to make yourself known with a good impression if you want o be chosen for opportunities. The academics are competitive and certain classes can be awful, depending on the teacher, so it's not for everyone. There are lots of STEM traditions and school-wide activities that allow the different grades to mix and bond. The small classes mean that everyone pretty much knows everyone, which is mostly a blessing but sometimes a curse. There is a lot of trust between students and teachers, because of the independence and opportunities that we are given that come with responsibilities. The school fosters a collaborative environment that allows us to really connect with people outside of our friend groups. Senior: The best part about STEM is by far the community. i'm super unaware so i can't really speak to bullying but my friends have had. radnor has a load of clubs and makes it really easy to start your own which is nice, but certain activities (football) get more recognition.my only real gripe is that the school is really white and rich and it only gets worse as the classes get smarter. i've fostered really close.i'm a member of a couple clubs and also a club president. workload can sometimes be hard to manage but overall i love my classes.
